Registering a radio-id for dmr was a pain for me.

The interesting topics of the ham world are like a sea. you need to chose, where to get your feet wet first. I chose the digital world, more precisely DMR. (See this post for an explanation).

If you want to register a radio id, you need to visit this website. Unfortunately it is not written very clean. It needs javascript to work, which could lead to problems, when you need accessibility (e.g. blind people). The Menu shows a button “Log In / Sign Up”, which leads to a login site, but no option to sign up. Later I found1 the right page.

The register page states the policies (privacy, terms and conidition, cookies, acceptable use). One paragraph is written in an extremely aggressive manner (red font, blinking, uppercase). After you check the agreement, you may create an account providing minimal information.

Later you need to provide proof, by uploading a copy of your licence. Unfortunately this did not work with me. I received a generic error, that my image could not be uploaded. Even after trying to shrink the size and use other formats it was impossible to upload the licence. Thankfully a support ticket in which I attached my licence quickly solved the problem.

A short time later I received notice of my new radio id.
